Hi everyone. I need to speak up on behalf of John Travolta. I cannot be the only one who was thrilled when Vinnie Barbarino made his big comeback with Pulp Fiction. It must have been so hard to be so beloved by all and then vanish in the night, no one even asking of your whereabouts. It was very inspiring to see him return.
Fast forward to earlier this week when I am listening to WPLJ and hear Scott and Todd commenting on the %#$@&* guy who is writing a book about all of John’s gay sexual escapades in Los Angeles spas. What business is it of his? Who cares? Why on earth would someone “out” someone whose wife is about to have a baby, whose son just died, who has a private life with his wife and a wife who may even be aware of his separate life? Sheesh!
I tried to distract myself from this awful news by taking advantage of another kind of pulp in my fridge-tamarind pulp. Tamarind is often used in Thai and Indian cooking and after remembering I had this in my fridge, I took the opportunity to make myself a scrumptious Indian raita (yogurt based sauce) to eat with my rice and avocado salad. It came out great so i suggest you try it.
As for John Travolta, I pity the man who has nothing better to do than ruin people’s lives. I hope John’s new baby will bring him enough joy to help him through this.
Tamarind Raita:
1 cup Plain yogurt, preferably 0% fat Fage brand
2 TBS finely chopped cilantro
2 TBS Tamarind paste or tamarind pulp pureed with 2 TBS water (van get at most Asian Food markets)
1 TBS agave syrup or 2 tsp sugar or honey
1/4 peeled, seeded and chopped cucumber
Gently mix altogether and serve. Can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days.

Alma, I'm going to try your Tamarind Raita and hopefully it too, will keep my mind off of Vinnie's outing!
