Pumpkin Pie Dip, Cooking Traditions and Rockin’ Guests!

Hi everyone and please click on the title of this post to read more. Well, I must say that I am more than a tad tired from all the cooking and cleaning that went on today at my house, 5 hours in total. My dogs are killing me! Yes, even I get tired of cooking and cleaning up the mess. It was all for a good reason, however; my friends Michael and Claire and their two kids came over for our tradition of canning (or jarring) apple butter, apple chutney and apple pies to use up all our orchard picked apples.

Since I wanted some snacks to serve as we were “working” in the kitchen, I decided to serve a pumpkin pie dip that I made for a Harvest Festival yesterday where I was offering tastes of my healthy dips (welcome to all the new blog subscribers from the festival!). I love dips and Michael added a bit of freshly grated ginger which gave it a bit more zing. It turned out pretty well.

Check us out in the video below, hard at work, and see our surprise guest who dropped by after her rockin’ performance last night at our Goddess Rock concert. She sings AND she helps clean up! By the way, Michael is also a Parent Who Rocks….
P.S. My 6 year old was looking at my teeth after his bath tonight and he asked me which one was the “sweet tooth”. Too cute.

Alright, enough of my chit chatting-here’s the dip:

Pumpkin Pie Dip:

1 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
1 1/2 cups pumpkin puree

spices:
4 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp allspice

Combine all together and serve with celery sticks, carrots and/or pita chips, etc. Enjoy!
