Hi everyone! Imagine my surprise today when I entered the Municipal Building in Montclair, Vitamix in hand, ready to be on a Chanel 34 Broadcast for Seniors, when I see a room full of police officers and their families in the screening room. It was a swearing in of three new officers. I sat down in the back since it was open to the public, and planned to wait patiently for my green shake demo and interview.
I have to say, it was a moving ceremony. The speakers included the chief of police, the Mayor, and a Councilman. All of them congratulated the new officers , told them how much they appreciate their commitment to protect our state and our constitution. The speakers made a point of thanking the families and acknowledged that they, too , will sacrifice because their family members will be called out for dangerous situations. They also acknowledged that this job would be a strain on relationships and to be aware of how taxing it may be.
I looked down at my Vitamix in my recycled bag from Whole Foods and smiled. I do love my Vitamix so. It supports me in good health. Wouldn’t it be nice if all of us were supported and appreciated by our families for all the hard work we do to maintain the home and keep the bellies full of healthy, planned out meals? Sigh.
Anyhoo, after the ceremony, we filmed. Stay tuned to see the video in a few weeks of the wonderful time I had with Dolores and her friends, teaching them how easy and nutritious green shakes can be for Seniors and everyone else. Here’ what I made them. Even the cynical self proclaimed “sugar addict” producer said they weren’t bad 🙂
Mango Spinach Banana Shakes:
2 cups frozen spinach (preferably organic)
1 cup frozen mango chunks
1 banana (or 2 if you need sweeter)
6 cups water
Puree in blender until smooth. Lasts up to 2 days in fridge but stir because it separates. Yum.
