Hi everyone. I’ll cut to the chase: I saw Jack LaLane on the Today Show and he is 95 years old! When asked to what he could attribute his good health and longevity,he replied, “Working out is King, nutrition is Queen and then you have a kingdom” (or something like that). He is so right. He then went on to say that he exercises 2 hours a day but we really only need to do 30 minutes a day. He says he works out 2 hours because of his ego. Here’s where it gets exciting: he said he makes green shakes every day. I knew he was cool.
Piggy backing on this aging but awesome fellow’s story, i would like to tell you that our YMCA is offering ALL 7th graders in Montclair a FREE one year membership to the YMCA! What a great way to promote good health before all the freedom and money of their teens thrusts them into a world of junk food. If you or someone you know is interested, call Eric Montgomery at 973-415-6119. If your area YMCA is not offering this program, why don’t you suggest it to them?
While you’re at it, serve your 7th grader, or older or younger ones, this healthy chick pea salad. Heck, just eating it in front of them will expose them and thus plant a healthy seed of modeling good, healthy eating for their future.
Enjoy!

He works out two hours a day? Good grief! I don't think I do anything for two solid hours a day except breathing and sleeping. But good for him about the green shakes.
