Hi everyone! Well, those of you who know me know that I am BEYOND excited because in just an hour and a half, I will be reunited with the cast of my favorite show, Mad Men.
Sometimes having an occasion to look forward to, associated with a culinary theme, can help you overcome the obstacles to cooking.
Have you made anything in preparation for viewing Mad Men? Please let us know in the comments!
Try these delicious goat cheese stuffed dates posted on my blog a few years ago that my friend Kate made to get ready for the big night. They were delicious and the name she gave them couldn’t be more yummy. Enjoy!
Don Draper’s Dates With Goat Cheese and Turkey bacon (or real bacon or tofu bacon):
Ingredients:
About 50 Pitted dates (or pit them yourselves but that is a pain in the butt)-however many you like
1/2 lb goat cheese
12 oz.-1 lb Pork bacon, turkey bacon or tofu bacon-
Steps:
Slit the dates, mush about a tsp goat cheese inside and push sides of dates together to make it like a little sandwich
If you are using bacon, slice the bacon in thirds, take one third and wrap it around the center of the dates, and place the date with the seam side down of the bacon
On a parchment paper lined baking sheet, bake at 400 degrees until the bacon is cooked through or the cheese starts to turn golden a bit, about 15-20 minutes.
