Hi everyone!
If you are like me, rolling out sugar cookies and using cookie cutters can be a deterrent to baking-it’s HARD!If you want to give a delicious and festive gift, try these awesome bars I created. They are scrumptious and won’t take long at all.
The photo is of a triple batch made on a cookie sheet but one batch can be made in a brownie size pan.
Enjoy!
Chocolate Marzipan Bars:
Crust:
2 cups white flour
one cup powdered sugar
2 sticks softened butter
filling:
1 1/2 cups marzipan (can get at most supermarkets in the baking section)
Topping:
12 oz. semisweet chocolate chips
Steps:
Fully combine ingredients up to the butter by hand or with an electric mixer. Take 1/2 the dough and lay it on a parchment paper lined 8″X8″ brownie pan.
Sprinkle with 1 1/2 cups almond paste. Cover with other 1/2 of dough by pressing down to fully cover.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees
Bake on middle rack in oven until starting to turn golden brown, about 20-25 minutes
Remove baking sheet from the oven, evenly place chocolate chips over the cooked dough, place back in oven and let sit for 3 minutes until chips melt and remove.
Spread chocolate around like frosting to cover entire surface. Score and refrigerate until chocolate hardens and serve!.
